| Client: | Winchester & Eastleigh NHS Trust | Leigh House provides accommodation for the care of young people in need of specialist psychiatric treatment. It has been a former winner of the NHS 'Building Better Heathcare' award for Excellence in the Design of Mental Health Accommodation. The largest of the buildings, at two storeys, is the residence with a projecting single storey containing wings of day accommodation, service and ancillary departments. Three smaller buildings provide an administration building, recreation hall, and Outpatient Department. A further building is the school and therapy unit. The project was constructed on a steeply sloping site, with use of local materials a planning requirement in this historically sensitive area. |
