| Client: | Borough of Bournemouth | This scheme comprised the construction of a single storey school for the teaching of the National Curriculum to pupils with special educational requirements, and comprised a new sports hall and office accommodation together with teaching spaces including a science laboratory and CDT workshop, and provision of a new car park. The Pupil Referral Unit is a facility for children with learning difficulties and required an elaborate security system to ensure that the unit was secure from both unauthorised visitors and unauthorised exit by pupils. Value engineering provided a substantial list of savings resulting from working collaboratively with the whole Design Team. Early involvement in the scheme ensured we had a full understanding of the Client's requirements, the benefits of which were realised in a 15% cost saving on the original tender figure. |
